Chemical Hood
A chemical hood (or fume hood) is a laboratory safety device designed to protect users from hazardous fumes, gases, and particles. It uses a ventilation system to draw contaminated air away from the workspace and expel it outside. The hood typically includes a transparent sash for protection and a work surface for experiments. Common types include chemical fume hoods for volatile substances and biological safety cabinets for handling biological materials. Proper use, including ensuring airflow and wearing protective gear, is essential for maintaining a safe lab environment.
