Airyscan- Zeiss LSM 980
The LSM 980 with Airyscan 2 is a high-performance confocal microscope optimized for super-resolution imaging, live-cell imaging, and quantitative fluorescence analysis. Equipped with six detection channels, including four high-sensitivity GaAsP detectors and a cooled red MA-PMT, this system supports multi-channel fluorescence imaging, single-molecule tracking, and FRET analysis.
The Airyscan 2 module enhances the photon budget, enabling higher resolution, faster scanning speeds, and improved sensitivity across all dimensions compared to traditional confocal systems. The fast Airyscan 2 multiplexing mode allows for imaging at tens of frames per second, facilitating applications such as high-speed calcium imaging, spectral unmixing, and dynamic protein localization.
With low laser excitation power, this system minimizes photobleaching and phototoxicity, ensuring a higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and optimal pixel dwell times for long-term live imaging and precise quantitative analysis.
